The Challenge

Read, an mobile app service for e-books from the Top1 seller of licensed e-books in the Eastern Europe, used an earlier version of the Appodeal SDK.

Their current version of the SDK didn't fully tap into the latest ad technologies. However, the new SDK allowed the developers to discover and leverage additional opportunities, ultimately enhancing their ad revenue potential.
Upon updating to the latest Appodeal SDK, discussions between the studio's monetization team and their Appodeal account manager revealed several key areas for improvement.
The primary goal was to achieve at least a 10% increase in revenue and ARPDAU (average revenue per daily active user).

The Solution

To accomplish this, Appodeal proposed the following strategies:
Integrating a broader range of ad networks to enhance competition for ad impressions and drive up eCPM.
Tailoring ad delivery based on user demographics and geographic locations
Utilizing a variety of high-revenue ad formats, including interstitials, rewarded videos, and native ads, to cater to different user preferences and behaviors.
The team needed to ensure that increasing the number of ad networks and optimizing ad targeting did not negatively impact user experience. Balancing ad frequency and placement to maintain high user retention while maximizing revenue required careful A/B testing and constant monitoring.
By addressing these challenges head-on and taking advantage of Appodeal's advanced mediation, LitRes Group of companies could maximize the in-app bidding features of top ad networks.

The Results

The proposed solution by our experts’ team, along with the new Appodeal SDK resulted in significant improvements in the app ad performance metrics. However, starting from Week 0, when the Appodeal solution was deployed, we can observe how the trend completely changes:

Mid-term Impact: This upward trend continued, albeit slower, stabilizing at a +50% increase over the initial values.

The second chart focuses solely on ad revenue, reflecting a trend similar to that of the ARPDAU and Ad ARPU metrics.
Short-term Impact: Ad revenue increased by +35% within the first two weeks.
Mid-term Impact: By the end of the data collection period, ad revenue had grown to an impressive +45% above the initial levels.
